Elements of social identity theory
Elements of social identity theory:
- Categorization – Making the "we" group different than the "them" group (finding differences between two groups).
- Identification – Making the "we" group think that the "them" group is worse (making all of the group to categorize the groups).
- Comparison – Finding similarities and differences between the "we" group to the "them" group (comparing the groups).
This theory helps us explain conflict by giving us the knowledge of how the groups (in an inter-group conflict) are creating the conflict.
