SECTION I: GOLEMAN’S LEADERSHIP STYLES

1.

2.

Commanding would be the most suitable leadership style in a crisis because there are situations where the leader doesn’t have time to ask the group any questions.

3.

In my opinion the most suitable leadership style for a teacher in a classroom is Coaching because when people are learning from someone they don’t need someone to tell them "solve it right now", they need someone who understands them and wants to give them examples and to make them succeed and not succeeding himself.

4.

In my opinion Commanding is the leadership style I would respond least positively because I think I never ever needed someone to tell me “Do what I tell you”, I never needed someone to put high standards on me and I never needed anyone to plan what I need to do for me.

SECTION II: METHODS OF PERSUASION

1.

Ethos – Persuading someone by showing him why you are a credible source to rely on giving you information.

Pathos – Persuading someone through emotions or feelings.

Logos – Persuading someone by using logic or facts.

2.

Example 1: Barack Obama was using his family's story to explain the people of the United States that he is one of them and they can trust him. For an example there's this quote: "My father was a foreign student, born and raised in a small village…" (lines 3-4).

Example 2: "I stand here knowing that my story is a part of the larger American story" (lines 22-23). This quote in the end of the speech is another example of Barack Obama using his family's story to explain the people of the United States that he is one of them and they can trust him.

3.

Obama use pathos in his speech to persuade his audience when he sayed "let me express my deep gratitude for the privilege of addressing this convention" (lines 1-2), it's making the audience feel that they are not the only side who thank the other side, the other side is gratitude too.

SECTION III: SEET ESSAY

Statement:

I don’t agree with the saying "A good leader is not necessarily someone who listens to others, but someone who knows when to ignore them.". I think that a leader must listen to other people needs to be a leader.

Explanation 1:

First, I think that if a leader won't listen to other people needs his group will make sure he won't be the leader anymore, people won't ever let someone who doesn’t help them or feel their needs or pain to lead them.

Example 1:

For an example, take the France revolution, poor people were starving, people were dying from hunger, when they asked their leader what should they do because there is no bread she answered "let them eat cakes". Not much time after this answer the people killed their leader. It shows perfectly why a leader must listen to the group.

Explanation 2:

Also, I think a good leader must know when to listen to his group and not when to ignore them, which means that the statement I was given (in my opinion) is completely wrong. Leaders who ignore the group's opinion can't be leaders without any support and when your not listening to any group member you lose all of your support.

Example 2:

People can look at the situation in Iran today, Iran's leadership focuses on destroying other people instead of saving their own. Iran's leadership is losing their support and in my opinion they will soon lose their power.

Counterargument:

People who disagree with my opinion might say that a leader can't give everyone what they want or need, but I think that they have to at least listen and try to help.

Tieback:

In conclusion, in my opinion, leaders who doesn’t listen to the group they are leading, might find themselves without any power in the end, not leading anyone.
