the quote means that sometimes people feel like there is something blocking their dreams but those people can find ways to reach them.

The connection between the quote to the poem is that they are both talking about that sometimes something can block us from achieving out dreams. Two quotes from the poem that show the connection between the quote an the poem are:

1. "my dream. And then the wall rose" – this quote shows the connection by that the wall is the what's blocking him from his dream.
2. "I am black" – what shows us that the fact he is black is "the wall" that stands between him and his dream.
