The Veldt
What I've understood about the house and the nursery so far:
The house:
It’s a gigantic, futuristic and automatic house that cost a lot.
the nursery:
the nursery is a sound proof room that from the inside looks and feels like a veldt.
what is unusual about the relationship between the parents and their children? give examples. Why?
The relationship between the parents and the children is that the children are treating their parents like they are kids.
For an example:
"we're full of strawberry ice cream and hot dogs." Which means that the children eats whatever they want to and most parent wont let their children be "full of strawberry ice cream and hot dogs".
The reason this relationship exits is that the parents allowed the house to take care of their kids so the children feel like their parents don’t have any power position on them.
Who is responsible for the parents deaths?
In my opinion, the parents, the house and especially the children are all responsible for the parents deaths. The parents are responsible because when the father turned of the house and the children were crying the father couldn’t handle the children crying so he turned the nursery back on. Im not saying that we need to blame the parents for their own deaths but they still had a part in it. The house is responsible for the parents deaths too because the house took care of the children until the children thought that they don’t need their parents. The children are the ones who are to blame on the parents deaths and they are the most responsible for the deaths because they imagined the lions killing the parents in the nursery from the beginning of the story. That shows that the kids planed to kill the parents all along.
